The festival’s priority is the safety of spectators and pilots. Numerous safety measures, including evacuation plans, have been implemented in collaboration with numerous stakeholders, including the police, firefighters, the army, Aéroports de Montréal, and the city of Mirabel.

According to ICAS, no spectator has died at an air festival since the 1950s, thanks to the safety measures implemented by various organizations. Among other things, maneuvers toward the crowd are prohibited, and a prescribed distance must be maintained at all times between flying aircraft and spectators. However, the risks are greater for pilots. Regular assessments are conducted to ensure they know the maneuvers they must perform inside and out.

The Volaria Airshow is a carbon-neutral event. GHG emissions emitted during the festival will be offset by the purchase of carbon credits. In addition, our team is working hard to reduce participants’ ecological footprint, for example by encouraging the use of reusable bottles, encouraging carpooling, encouraging food trucks to use reusable or recycled materials, providing recycling bins, etc. It is with the collaboration of Carbone Boréal that we will be able to offset our GHG emissions by planting trees in Quebec.
